There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper

Are you trying to create a shared folder on your windows 7 computer and getting error code #1753 “There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper”. If you are using windows file explorer and just seeing the error text, try running the following from the command prompt:

net share testShare=c:/windows

After 4 hours of searching and finding a zillion other causes for my error I finally found a solution that fixed my flavor of the problem. It turns out to be related to a firewall service issue/dependency. You can probably diagnose your issue just by opening up your services and seeing if you have a listing for Windows Firewall. You may also not be able to enable the firewall from the Control Panel / Windows Firewall admin panel.

Download the following registry files and merge them (double click on the files and accept merge).

With those merged, open regedit.

  • Navigate to
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\BFE
  • Right click on it-permissions. (Note: I did not do this step and it still solved my problem)
    • Click on ADD and use the Everyone group
    • Select full control.

Now reboot your computer

Thank you! This is the ONLY solution on the entire internet (at least it feels like that), that worked. You should inform Microsoft of the solution, since they sure aren’t aware of it.

Thank you for taking the time to post this.

Worked for me too. It was caused by the virus which contaminated /patched services.exe file.
I started machine in safe mode, renamed services.exe to services.exe.vir and copied original version from backups to the same folder.
After that F-Secure online scanner was able to remove services.exe.vir file which was ruined by the virus -or contained it.

Of course i could just shift+delete the file but i wanted to see how virus scanner detects and cleans it.

If you don’t knw what the command prompt is, you 1. should find a competent technician to help you; and 2-Not put command prompt is caps like you are yelling in your ignorance.

So this worked, but… this caused a follow up error with making my device network discoverable. Before this patch I could see my computer on the network. After I followed the steps above, I was able to share my files properly, but now I can’t see the device on the network. I’ve tried this two times now, with a system restore point. Both times I could no longer connect remotedly through the network after rebooting from the steps above. From the advance sharing settings, “Turn on network discovery” will not stay on. I turn it on, save changes and go back into the settings and it’s turned back off. So what in this fix breaks network discovery?

I looked everywhere to understand this, and your solution worked first time, with no issues. Easy to follow instructions, with no links to meaningless MS knowledgebase articles! Thank you so much. All I wanted to do was share my video folder, so others in the house can see all our videos! They now can.

This borked the Windows Firewall service on the machine I was trying to fix.
So even though I could share things, I then could not connect to the PC over the network.
So, not really a fix for me.
Use at your own risk and back up the reg keys before you merge these…

Hi Paul, same as me, I cannot remote to my server now.
Have you managed to fix this?

    • August 4, 2013 at 12:01 PM | #31

Your firewall should now be working, so check it’s settings. You are probably blocking traffic on this port

This didn’t work for me. It still says that the endpoint mapper has no more points to give out.

And apparently Windows 7 thinks that my computer is the entire network. I renamed my computer so I could tell it apart from all the other “computers” that were listed in the network map…and now two of them have the same name, and the domain name has changed to match the name of my computer as well.
